WHERE CAN I FIND SOUND CONTROL?
We are neatly just off Oxford Rd, Number 1 New Wakefield Street. If coming by bus, you’ll need to hop onto a 42/43 bus and get off at the Palace Hotel, we’re just opposite.
We are a stones throw away from Oxford Rd Train Station too, head on there and take a right out of the station and there we are!
WHERE CAN I PARK?
Parking isn’t great to be honest, there are car parks close by, the Student Halls have an underground car park, which is £4.50 for 12 hours. New Wakefield Street has parking bays and is free after 8pm, but get’s chocker.
ANYWHERE NEARBY TO STAY?
There are a few place nearby, the very nice Palace Hotel opposite 0161 288 1111 or just down the road, Portland Street, the lovely ibis hotel 0161 234 0600.
ARE YOU AN OVER 18’s VENUE?
We are an over 18’s venue for clubnights, if you are one of the lucky pups who look under 21 then please bring ID as one of our lovely door team will be asking. Passport, University ID will do the trick, anything without your photo, will not. For shows, we’re all ages, but again, bring ID if you want to drink at the bar.
IS THERE A CLOAKROOM AT SOUND CONTROL?
Yes we have two, situated on the left hand side of the bar upstairs and downstairs in the club.
WHAT TIME IS SOUND CONTROL OPEN TILL?
We hold a late license, but that doesn’t mean we’ll be open until the very end, it all depends on the nature of the show/event. Check our listings for more info.
HOW DO I BOOK A SHOW FOR MY BAND?
Anyone interested in playing at Sound Control should fire an email over to Ben, please include a link to your music, when you are looking to play and a contact phone number. If you don’t get a reply straight away, just sit tight as we have bands/acts sending in music all the time. You will get a reply.
CAN WE BRING OUR OWN SOUND ENGINEER?
You sure can, just let us know. We have a fine selection of Manchester’s best Sound Engineers here in the building. They’ll be here from the off and will help you/your engineer with any questions etc.
HOW MUCH NOTICE DO I HAVE TO GIVE WHEN CANCELLING A SHOW?
As much notice as possible, 14 days is standard. And if you’re going to make up an excuse, please do better than “I’m having tea with my mum tonight”. I kid you not…
CAN I HIRE SOUND CONTROL?
Sure. First things first, get a proposal of the night together and get that over to Ben. Costs of hiring the venue of course change depending on the night of the week, opening times and nature of the event.
